FO… Monday? Tweed Baby Blanket
This week we’re switching it up. I finally finished the baby blanket this weekend and I am so pleased with it that I cannot wait until Friday to show it to you. So, this week my video will switch to… you guessed it, Friday and today: The Tweed Baby Blanket!
The Tweed Baby Blanket wasn’t as easy as I thought it was going to be. For one, I made a few mistakes early on from not paying attention (forgetting to m1 happened a couple of times until I realized that just because it’s garter stitch doesn’t mean I can turn my brain off completely). Then it seemed to take forever to get to the magic number of stitches, and I realized just how important those missed m1’s are – remember, if you are adding extra rows to fudge it you need extra yarn.
I didn’t order enough yarn. So that meant that I had to fudge the border too. I made it quite a bit smaller than the border is supposed to be (but somehow the blanket is still the same size (fierce blocker much?)
When I did the I-cord bind off though, wow. It gives it such a classic, finished look. This blanket is truly handsome. The tweedy, grey colours give it a very masculine look while still having the glory of lace!
I want to make a really big one for the house in browns… but that will definitely have to wait. Enjoy!
